Sand Dragon

Sand dragons are a type of dragon that evolved quite late into the early history of Permius. Dragons evolve based off of some environmental pressures, but none more than the aura exuded by a given area. In the southern deserts of Lagosan and the Clins, settling dragons began to change. They lost their wings, and their bodies became stout and flat. This was a perfect shape for sitting just beneath the sand, ambushing whatever happened to come near.

These creatures don’t only ambush, as they also hunt extensively during the night when other nocturnal creatures reveal themselves. During the Dragon Wars, these creatures are more active in ambushes. Following these events though, as grander desert creatures emerge, these beasts become far more aggressive above the sand.

A characteristic trait of most dragons are their breath, which differs by region. Whereas the classical dragons of the northern mountains breath a terrible fiery breath, sand dragons blow hot sand. From within them, they will exude hot sand, either in an attempt to burn or bury their prey, choking them in a painful, agonizing death.

There are few that can stand up to these beasts, despite their lacking size compared to some of its sister-breeds. They are truly a force to be reckoned with.
